We found the following adopted children in the home of Hiram and Minnie Mulnix in the 1910 census in Walton, Delaware Co., NY. There is no indicatiion whether they were formally adopted, or were simply taken in as their children. The total number, 3, suggests the possibility they they may been aboard the "Orphan Trains" that ran westward from east coast cities from 1854 to 1929.

  1. Lena Prentiss, b. c. 1899, NY. Not in 1900 census. 1910 at home. 1920 not home.
  2. Leonard Prentiss, b. c. 1902, NY. 1910 at home. Not in 1920 and later census..
  3. Arthur Prentiss, b. c. 1904, NY. . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . [2]

2. Arthur G. Prentiss, b. c. 1904, NY. He appears in the 1910, 1920, 1930, 1940 census, spelled "Prentice," still in Walton, Delaware Co., NY, as a Steam Boiler Fireman in the Creamery Industry, with his wife and family.

He m. Ethel J. Baker, b. c. 1914, NY. Living with them in 1940 was her widowed father, William H. Baker, b. c. 1861, NY. Children per 1940 census:

  1. Arthur G Prentice Jr., b. c. 1930, NY. 1930 at home but called "George A. Prentiss." 1940 at home in Walton, NY.
  2. Frank S Prentice, b. c. 1933, NY. 1940 at home in Walton, NY.
  3. Bradley W Prentice, b. 1 Nov 1934, NY, and d. 28 Oct 1989, NY, per SSDI. 1940 at home in Walton, NY. Bur. in Walton. He m. Miss Holbrook, dau. of Lucious Brown Holbrook (1883-1955) and Nina Almada Sisson (1896-1983). They had 3 daughters:
    1. (dau.) Prentiss.
    2. (dau.) Prentiss.
    3. Elizabeth Prentiss, b. 1 Sep 1966, NY, and d. NY. Not in SSDI by that name.
    4. Illiana G Prentice, b. c. 1939, NY. 1940 at home in Walton, NY.
