UPDATE OF 13 AUG 2014: Joseph Prentiss was born Joseph Katz per the 1930 census in Bronx, NY, son of Alex Katz (b. c. 1884, Hungary) and Ethel Katz (b. c. 1887, Hungary). For some reason he opted to change his last name to Prentiss as it appears in the 1940 census.

1. Joseph Prentice or Prentiss was b. c. 1912 in Hungary and d. 1964 at the age of 52 per Heather Robinson, below. Joseph appears in the 1940 census with a residence in Norwalk, Fairfield Co., CT. He was single, a Linotype Operator in a Publishing business, with a 4 year High School education.

The 1940 census shows him as a partner in a business in New York, New York Co., NY, with his mother, Ethel Katz who was b. c. 1887, Hungary. She had 1 year of High School. Both Joseph and his mother are naturalized citizens.

He m. Elizabeth who is living in Aug 2014 per Heather Robinson's email of 13 Aug 2014
