They are almost certainly the James and Betsy Prentice who appear in the 1881 census in Cambusnethan, Lanarkshire where he was an Engine Keeper. After James' death in 1887, Betsy appears as the head of the household in the 1891 census in Cambusnethan. Betsy appears as "Mrs Elizabeth Prentice? in the 1901 Cambusnethan census living at 94 Stewarton St., with her occupation given as "Housekeeper."
