1. William P. Prentice was b. Nov 1859 in Indiana, with his father b. in PA and mother in IN (per 1900 census). He does not appear in the 1860 census, but does appear in the 1870 census in Merom, Sullivan Co., IN, in the home of Sarah Lindsay, perhaps a widow since no husband was shown. Sarah was b. c. 1829 in IN, her occupation was "Takes in laundry." Also shown were her children: (1) Edward Lindsay, b. c. 1864, IN, and (2) Lucina Lindsay, b. c. 1866, IN. William does not appear in the 1880 census. In the 1900 census in Brazil, Clay Co., IN, he appears as William P. Prentice with his wife and family.

He m. Lettie M., b. Jan 1859, IN. In 1920 she was living with her son, William, in Terra Haute, IN. Children: `

  2. Howard W. Prentice, b. Sep 1897, IN. In 1920 he was living with his brother. William. 1930 census in Terra Haute, Vigo Co., IN, with his wife, Pauline B., b. c. 1910, IN, with both parents b. in IN. No children shown. Not in SSDI.

2. William L. Prentice, b. Jul 1891, IN. He appears in the 1920 and 1930 census in Terra Haute, Vigo Co., IN, with his wife and family. Bur in Highland Lawn Cem., Terra Haute, IN. Not in SSDI .

He m. Lela. She was b. c. 1902 in IN, with her father b. in IN and mother in IA. Bur in Highland Lawn Cem., Terra Haute, IN. Children per 1930 census:

  1. Betty Prentice, b. c. 1920, IN. She m. Mr. Bindhammer and in 2011 lived in Bloomington.

3. William Vernon "Billie" Prentice, b. 30 May 1925, Terra Haute, IN, and d. 8 Jun 2011, Goodland, KS. Bur in Highland Lawn Cem., Terra Haute, with his parents. His obituary reads as follows:

August 31, 2011, William Vernon Prentice

TERRE HAUTE — William Vernon Prentice, 86, of Goodland, Kan., and formerly of Terre Haute, passed away in his home on June 8, 2011. He was born May 30, 1925, in Terre Haute, to Lela Easter Powell Prentice and William Leroy Prentice.

Bill was raised in Terre Haute, moved to Denver, and then retired in Goodland, where he has resided for more than 10 years. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army, had been employed at Stran Steel in Terre Haute, and retired from the U.S. Postal Service.

Bill leaves behind his three sisters and their families: Betty Prentice Bindhammer of Bloomington, Norma Prentice Frump and husband John, and Helen Prentice Curley and husband Kenneth, all of Terre Haute; and many nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews.

Bill was cremated in Goodland and returns home to Terre Haute to rest with his parents at Highland Lawn Cemetery. There will be a private service for the family on Friday, at the cemetery. He was a beloved brother and uncle and he will be missed.
