Who are Samuel Prentiss' Parents?

Michael Boyd's web page at Ancestry.com incorrectly identifies his Samuel Prentice as the son of Jared Prentice.

His website at Ancestry.com shows Jared as having a son, Samuel, as b. 10 Oct 1800 at Verona, Oneida Co., NY. Our own eBook shows Jared as living in Butternuts, Otsego Co., NY, never in Oneida Co., NY. Further all of Jared's 11 children were born in Butternuts. Jared did have a son, Samuel, b. c. 1800 in Butternuts, but that son died, unmarried, in the "extreme northwest." per C. J. F. Binney's 1883 Prentice book which, at page 301, shows that Samuel "died, unmarried, in the extreme Northwest."

Since Jared cannot be Samuel's father, we are working to identify Samuel's parents.
