She m. Orton Chapman on 7 Nov 1833, Harpersfield, Ashtabula Co., OH. He was b. 1 Sep 1806, MS, and d. 31 Oct 1870, Meigs Co., OH. Children:

- Gilbert Riley Chapman 1840 1840
- Laura Adaline Chapman 1842
- George Billings Chapman 1844 1847
- Harriet Angeline Chapman 1848 1911
- Mary Amelia Chapman 1851 1864
So far we have not identified Laura's parents in a search of Ancestry.com, the IGI, and census records.
Julia Ramsey's email of 12 May 2012 relates that she is a 2nd Great Granddaughter of Laura Prentice and that Laura's 1833 marriage record to Orton Chapman in Harpersfield, Ashtabula Co., OH, states that it was witnessed by Gilbert Prentice. She says that a Gilbert Prentice is listed in Harpersfield, Ashtabula County, Ohio Tax records.
Julia Ramsey suggests that Gilbert may have been Laura's father. Maybe, but he could also have been an uncle, brother, cousin, etc.
Our 1883 Binney boks shows a Gilbert Prentice as a son of Jonathan Prentice, but it shows Gilbert as "single" at the time of his 1828 death in Constable, NY.
Since Laura married in Harpersfield, Ashtabula Co., OH, it seems reasonable to think that her parents were also living in Harpersfield. We checked our database but did not find a Gilbert Prentice living in Ashtabula Co., OH,
Investigation is continuing.
