1. Frances Maxton Prentice was b. 20 Jun 1817 and d. 28 Dec 1857, Lynton Station, Western Australia betwen Nabawa and Port Gregory.

She m. James William Dornan, b. 17 Oct 1811 in St. Cuthbert's Parish, Edinburgh, Scotland, and d. 1 Oct 1891 in Greenough Flats, Western Australia.

According to the Ancestry.com posting, James enlisted in army 27/11/1827 in Edinburgh. Joined 23/12/1827 (6ft, 5 inches.). Served in East Indies for 12 years and 4 months and then China 2 years and 7 months. Pensioned out 9/10/1849 due to rheumatism from the above climates.

Pensioner Guard to Fremantle, probably 1854 with family from Stirling, Scotland. (? first wife was Elizabeth Pope.) Granted two pensioner blocks each of 14 acres at Greenough, 11/7/1868

Many convictions and court martials for drunkenness. James attended court 5/1/1856 with his wife, for drunkenness. Apparently he was treated lightly as the judiciary felt his wife was to blame.

He probably came out on the ship "Ramilies" 21/2/1854. Rank of Corporal. Was listed as 'School Master" in Port Gregory 1856. Left in Jan 1858 after burying his wife and one week later, a son Samuel. Children of Frances and James:

  1. Daniel Dornan 1841 – 1847
  2. William Dornan 1847 –
  3. James Dornan 1850 – 1900
  4. Jane Dornan 1852 – 1919
  5. Francis Maxton Dornan, dau., 1855 – 1934
  6. Samuel Dornan 1857 – 1857

James m. 2nd Charlotte on 5 Jan 1870(?). They had 1 or more children:

  1. Emma Dornan, b.1861 and d.1937.
