1. Edward Houghton Prentiss may have been b. c. 1895-1902 and in NE per the 1930 census record of his son, William. In 1922 he was living in Portland, Multnomah Co., OR where his son, William was born.
He m. Ruth Kayser Eliot on 2 Sep 1921, probably in Portland, Multnomah Co., OR. She was b.19 May 1899, Milwaukee, WI, and d. 10 Mar 1994, Portland, OR. She was the dau. of William Greeleaf Eliot and Minna Charlotte Sessinghaus per www.his.com/Feliot
In 1920 Ruth and her parents were living in Portland, Multnomah Co., OR. She appears as divorced in the 1930 Portland census. We do not have a marriage date, but it would likely have been after the census date in 1920 and the end of 1921. They had 1 or more children, including:
- William Eliot Prentiss, b. 22 Aug 1922 in Portland, Multnomah Co., OR. . . . . . . . . . . [2]
2. William Eliot Prentiss was b. 22 Aug 1922 in Portland, Multnomah Co., Oregon, and d. 15 Mar 2009 in Port Angeles, Clallam Co., Washington. He is bur. in Ocean View Cem in Port Angeles.
He appears with his divorced mother, Ruth, in the 1930 census in Portland, Multnomah Co., OR. His obituary of 25 Mar 2009 in the Sequim Gazette, Sequim, WA, reads as follows:
- William Eliot Prentiss. A service has been held for Port Angeles resident William Eliot Prentiss, who died
March 15, 2009, at age 86. He was born Aug. 22, 1922, in Portland, Ore. Drennan & Ford Funeral Home was in charge of
arrangements.
William apparently m. Marion W. who was b. 23 Apr 1920 and whose name also appears on William's headstone in Ocean View Cemetery in Port Angeles.
The 1930 census shows his mother as Ruth E. (Eliot) Prentiss, b. c. 1900, WI, dau. of William G. and Minna S. Eliot, with whom she was living in 1930 in Portland, OR. No husband is shown
