Update of 24 Feb 2012: Thomas Prentice is #4iii in our Winter 2003 article entitled James Prentice of Cambusnethan, Lanarkshire, Scotland . That article now replaces this article.

1. Thomas Black Prentice was likely b. c. 1863-1867 (based on the c. 1865, Carluke, birth of his wife) and at an unknown location. He d. c. 1944.

Robert Dalgleish's email of 16 Feb 2012 relates that Thomas, his great grandfather was the Reverend Thomas Black Prentice, a minister in Jamaica for 50 years at Stirling and Little London Savanna La Mar. In the 1901 church list he is listed as the presbyterian minister for friendship at Stirling and Little London.

He m. Isabella Brownlie Dick in 1894, Carluke, Scotland (per RobertDalgleish, email, 16 Feb 2011). She was b. c. 1865, Carluke, and d. 1934. She was living in Carluke in the 1891 Carluke census prior to her marriage. In Jamaica, their address was Bloomingdale West Moreland Savanna La Mar, which may have been a plantation. They had 1 or more children, including:

  1. William Dick Prentice, birth registered 3 May 1904, Jamaica. He m. and had a daughter:
    1. Isabella Brrownlie Dick Prentice. She m. Mr. Dalgleish and had 1 or more children, including:
      1. Robert Dalgleish.

This is my great grandfather.He was a presbyterian minister in jamaica for many years,he was married to isabella brownlee dick ,in 1894 in carluke scotland.My grandfather william prentice was born in jamaica 30/1/1904.could someone help with the church he was actually buried in.I have a picture of the gravestone.he is listed in the 1900 clergy list for jamaica.He was from Belstane farm in carluke Scotland.
