1. Nathan Prentice was b. c. 1826 in NY. He seems not to appear in the 1850, 1860 or 1870 census. In the 1880 US census and the 1885 IA Sate Census he appears as a farmer in Frederika, Bremer Co., IA, with his wife and children.

He m. Adell. She was b. c. 1885, IA. In the 1910 census in Jefferson, Fayette Co., IA, she is called "single" and living with her 2 children. Children per c1885 census:

  1. Florence L. Prentice b. c. 1877, Black Hawk, IA. At home in 1885. At home in 1910 with her mother and brother. In the 1915 IA census she was a single school teacher in Ft. Dodge, Webster Co., IA. She is probably the 40 year old single Public School Teacher shown in the 1920 census in Salt Lake City, UT. In the 1930 census she is likely the single 50 year old Public School Teacher shown in Seattle, King Co., WA.
  2. Edgar L. Prentice, b. c. 1880, Bremer, IA, and d. Jul 1923. At home in 1885. 1910 at home in Jefferson, Fayette Co., IA. At home in 1910 with his mother and sister. 1920 census in Jerome, Jerome Co., ID with his wife, Della (b. c. 1888, IA, father b. in MA and mother in England). Not in 1930 census.

Who are Nathan Prentice's Parents?

The only clue we have for now is from the 1880 census which says that both of Nathan's parents were born in NY.
