In reviewing the 1870 Census for Volney, Oswego Co., NY. we found the following Prentice.
1. Lottie Prentice, b. c. 1846, NY. She appears in the 1870 census in Volney, Oswego Co., NY as a Seamstress living with the family of Quartus and Harriet Rust. She does not appear in the earlier 1850 or 1860 census as either "Lottie" or "Carlotta.".
"Lottie" may be a nickname for Carlotta or other name.
It also occurs to us that she might be a widow of a soldier killed in the Civil War.
