1. George F. Prentice was b. c. 1928.and in an unknown location. He d. 20 Oct 2016 He eventually settled in Ringgold, Montgomery Co., TN. His obituary reads as follows:

    Chattanooga Times Free Press (TN) - Friday, October 21, 2016: George Prentice

    RINGGOLD — George F. Prentice Jr., 88, died Thursday, Oct. 20, 2016, in a local hospital. He was retired from Dupont Corp. and was a U.S. Naval veteran of the Korean Conflict. He was a member of the East Ridge Church of Christ.

    He was preceded in death by his wife of 50 years, Viola Malone Prentice; and a daughter, Katherine Zeller. He is survived by two sons, Lewis Prentice, of Chickamauga, and Fred Prentice, of Tunnel Hill, Ga., and eight grandchildren.

    Visit www.heritagebattlefield.com to share condolences with the family and to see his photograph. Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday, at East Ridge Church of Christ, with Michael Prentice officiating. The body will lie in state for one hour prior to the service. Graveside services will be Monday, Oct. 24, 2016, at 1 p.m., in Chattanooga National Cemetery, with Military Honors. The family will receive friends Friday from 6 to 8 p.m. today, at Heritage Funeral Home & Crematory.

He m. Viola Malone c. 1966. She was b. c. 1933 and d. 1 Aug 2005 in Ringgold, Montgomery Co., TN. Her obituary in the Walker County Messenger of 9 Oct 2005 reads as follows:

    Viola Prentice, 72, Ringgold: Viola Prentice of Ringgold died Monday, Aug. 1, in a local hospital. She was 72. She was a member of East Ridge Church of Christ, and a charter member of Eastdale Church of Christ. She was a former member of Central Church of Christ.

    Survivors include her husband of 50 years, George Prentice; daughter, Katherine Zeller of Ringgold; sons, Fred Prentice of Tunnel Hill, Lewis Prentice of Chickamauga; eight grandchildren.

    Services: Wednesday, Aug. 3, at 1:30 p.m. at East Ridge Church of Christ with Charles Cochran officiating. Burial: National Cemetery. Tuesday, Aug. 2, from 2–4 and 6–8 p.m. at Heritage Funeral Home, Battlefield Parkway. Condolences may be sent at www.heritagefh.com. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Daniel Womack Mission Fund, c/o East Ridge Church of Christ, 501 McBrien Road, East Ridge, Tenn., 37412. Arrangements by Heritage Funeral Home, Fort Oglethorpe.

Who are the parents of George F. Prentice?

Although speculative at the point, but based on George's obituary in the Chattanooga (TN) Times Free Press, his parents might be Fred Prentice, b. c. 1902, TN, and in 1924 a traveling salesman living in Chattanooga, in 1928 a Chattanooga salesman, and in 1940 living in Chattanooga, Hamilton Co.,TN, with his wife, Louise W. , b. c. 1904, TN. In 1940 they had a son, George Prentice, b. c. 1929, TN. They also had a daughter, Julia, b. c. 1926, TN.

The 1937 Chattanooga city directory lists him as "G. Fred Prentice" with a wwife, "Louise W. Prentice."

In the 1944 city directory he seems listed as "George Fred Prentice", a clerk in Chattanooga with a wife, "Louise W. Prentice."
