Helen Louise [Halbert] Prentice of Dimock, PA

Helen Louise Prentice, 89, of Dimock, PA passed away, Friday, June 5, 2009 at Endless Mountains Health Systems, Montrose, PA. Born March 29, 1920 in Gilbertsville, [Otsego Co.] NY, she was the daughter of the late Robert M. and Jenny [Wilson] Halbert.

She was a graduate of the Gilbertsville High School, Class of 1937. In 1951, she and her husband, Charles, moved to the Dimock area and raised a family. Helen loved her family and enjoyed spending time with them. She was a big fan of pinochle and all sorts of games. She was a member of Dimock Christian Community Church where she was a Community Worker and member of the church for over 50 years, Daughters of the American Revolution, Montrose Chapter from 1980 until present where she served as Secretary for many years.

Survivors include her loving husband of 71 years, Charles Prentice of Dimock, PA,; sons and daughters-in-law, Tom Prentice, of Florida, Gary and Michele Prentice, of Texas, Steve and Joann Prentice, of New Jersey; eight grandsons; one great grandson; brother, James Halbert, of Sidney, NY.; sister, Charlotte Oliphant, of Binghamton, NY.; sisters -in-law, Georgiana Halbert, of New Berlin, NY., Joyce Halbert, of New Berlin, NY., Lois Georgia, of Greene, NY., Anetta Rettberg, of Fla.; brother-in-law, Peter D'Ambrosio of Philadelphia, PA.; numerous nieces and nephews. Besides her parents she was predeceased by a daughter-in-law, Elaine Prentice; brothers, Robert W. Halbert and Thomas Russell Halbert; sister, Gertrude D'Ambrosio; sister-in-law, Elma Halbert; and brother-in-law, Melvain Oliphant.

Visitation will be 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. on Monday at the Bartron-Myer Funeral Home, Inc. Montrose, PA.
