He m. Sarah. She may be the Sarah Sewell shown in the IGI as b. Coslany, Norwick, Norwich, Norfolk, England, who m. a Samuel Prentice on 23 Jan 1783 in Bungay, Norfolk, England. However, the IGI shows an alternate marriage: 23 Jan 1783, Norwich, St. Mary at Cosland, Norfolk.

He is probably the Robert Prentice who appears in the 1871 census in South Heigham, Norfolk, as b. c. 1846, Bungay. It appears he may have wanted to appear older to approximate the age of his wife. He appears in the 1881 census in Heigham, Norfolk, as b. c. 1847. In the 1891 census he is shown as b. c. 1850, Bungay. In the 1901 Heigham census he is shown as b. c. 1847, Bungay.

He m. Louisa Howes, b. c. 1845, Norwich, Norfolk. Living with them was Louisa's mother, Elizabeth Howes, b. c. 1816, Norwich. Elizabeth may be the same person as Elizabeth Prentice who is living with them in the 1881 Heigham census although called b. c. 1822, Norwich. She is again called Louisa Howes, b. c. 1823, Norwich, while still living with them in the 1891 census. In the 1901 census, still living with them, she is shown s b. c. 1819.

Also shown in the 1871 household was Stephen Howes, b. c. 1865, age 6, Norwich, called a stepson and probably Louisa's son. He is at home in the 1881 Norwich census, but called Stephen Prentice. Not home in 1891 and not in 1891 or 1901 census under either surname.
