467. Hiram Prentice (James, 260). Born, Dec 1844, in Colesville, Broome, NY [1031]. Died, after 1920 [1032]. Census: 1870, in Fenton, Broome, NY. Census: 1920, in Port Dickinson, Broome, NY [1033]. Census: 1850, in Windsor, Broome, NY. Occupation: Farmer. Hiram, together with his brothers Theodore and Phineas, enlisted in the same Civil War B 137 N.Y. Infantry. The 1892 State Census shows him living at Colesville Twp., Broome, NY.

He married Huldah M. Becker, 2 Nov 1867, in North Junction, Broome, NY [1034]. Born, Jul 1843, in (of Colesville, Broome, NY)[782]. Died, circa 1910. She appears in the 1860 census in Colesville, Broome Co., NY, dau.of Hiram Becker,(b. c. 1819, NY) and Amanda (b. c. 1823, NY). Living with them in 1860 is John J. Becker, b. 1789, NY, probably Hiram's father.

Hiram Becker was b. 17 Jan 1819 and chr. at High and Low Dutch Reformed Congregation, Schoharie, Schoharie Co., NY, son of Johann Jost Becker (b. c. 1789, NY per 1860 census) and Lena (per IGI).

  1. Sarah Prentice. Born, 1870, in NY. Died, 1928. Census: 1880, in Unk., Broome, NY. She married Martin J. Reynolds. He was b. c. 1865, NY, as were his parents. Not in 1900 census. Sarah and Martin appear, without children, in the 1910 census in Colesville, Broome Co., NY. However, the 1920 Colesville census shows a married daughter with her children:
    1. Ethel G. Reyonlds, b. c. 1891, NY. She m. Floyd Dibble. He was b. c. 1888, NY, as were his parents.. Not in household in 1920 census. It is unclear whether he is the Floyd Dibbble shown in the SSDI as b. 20 Jan 1889, obtained his SS# in NY, and d. Feb 1960 at an unspecified location. Children shown in 1920 census:
      1. Freda T Dibble, b. c. 1909, NY. At home in 1920. Not in 1930 census.
      2. Roland E. Dibble, b. c. 1913, NY. At home in 1920. Not in 1930 census. He might be the Roland Dibble shown in the SSDI as b. 31 Dec 1912, obtained his SS# in NY, and d. Jul 1987 in Afton, Chenango Co., NY.
      3. Ray B. Dibble, b. c. 1915, NY. At home in 1920. Not in 1930 census. He might be the Ray B. Dibble who appears in the SSDI as b. 22 Apr 1914, obtained his SS# in NY, and d. 3 Apr 1995 in San jacinto, Riverside Co., CA.

    2. Jesse Prentice. Born, circa 1872, in NY. Census: 1880, in Unk., Broome, NY. He married Lizzie Dixon. He may, or may not, be the Jesse J. Prentice shown in the 1920 census as b. c. 1873-4,NY and livingin Binghamton, Broome Co., NY with his wife, Inez A., b. c. 1870, NY. No children shown.

    3. Julia M. Prentice. Born, circa 1876, in NY. Census: 1880, in Unk., Broome, NY. She married, first, John Carmen. Not in 1900 or 1910 census. She married, second, (Unknown) Olney. She is probably the Julia Olney shown in the 1920 census in Binghamton, Broome Co., NY, wife of Harry Olney, b. c. 1875, NY; no children shown. She also appears in the 1930 Binghamton census as married, but no husband is shown.

    4. William B. Prentice. Born, circa 1877, in NY. Died, 27 Mar 1961. Census: 1880, in Unk., Broome, NY. He married Glendownie'Glendomin Cowles. She was b. c. 1878, PA with parents b. in NY. 1920 and 1930 census in Binghamton, Broome Co., NY. Daughter per 1920 census:
      1. Erma Prentice, b. c. 1911, NY. At home in 1920. Not home in 1930 census.

      Living with them in 1920 was his father in law, Horace Cowles, b. c. 1839, NY. He is probably the Horace Cowles shown in the 1860 census in Seneca, Ontario Co., NY, as b. c. 1838, NY, son of George Cowles, b. c. 1805, CT, and Almira Barber, b. c. 1810-11, Seneca, Ontario Co., NY.     5. Ida Prentice. Born, circa 1880 (?). She married Frank Hoag. It is unclear whether she is the Ida M. Hoag shown in the 1910 census in Carlton, Orleans Co., NY, as b. c. 1877, NY, wife of Frank B. Hoag, b. c. 1872, NY, as were his parents. They later appear in the 1920 and 1930 census in Gaines, Orleans Co., NY. Children:
      1. Arthur F. Hoag, b. c. 1905, NY. At home in 1910, 1920 and 1930 census.
      2. Floyd E. Hoag, b. c. 1908, NY. At home in 1910, 1920 and 1930 census.
