1. George Prentice was b. 28 Sep 1888 in English Canada, and d. 7 Oct 1963. Bur. in Paradise Cem., Paradise, Butte Co., CA. He appears in the 1911 Canada census in Toronto North, Ontario,

Both of his parents were born in Scotland. He emigrated to the United States in 1914 (per 1930 census). He is not in the 1920 census. He appears in the 1930 census in South Euclid, Cuyahoga Co., Ohio, with his wife and family.

He m. Anne May Stewart who was b. 23 Mar 1889, English Canada, and d. 10 Jan 1963. Bur. in Paradise Cem.,Paradise, Butte Co., CA. In the 1911 Canada census whe appears with her husband under the name Annice P. Jay Prentice Both of her parents were born in England. She emigrated to the United States in 1914 (per 1930 census). Children:

  1. Hazel Prentice, b. c. 1912, English Canada. She emigrated to the United States in 1914 (per 1930 census). At home in 1930. Living in 2001 per obit. of her brother, Gordon. Not in SSDI or CA Death Index.
  2. George Prentice, b. c. 1914, Ohio. At home in 1930. Unclear whether in the SSDI. Not mentioned as surviving in the obit. of his brother, Gordon. It is unclear whether he is the George W. Prentice shown in the CA Death Index as b. 25 Jul 1913, OH, and d. 8 Dec 1950 in Tehama Co., CA, age 37.
  3. Robert Prentice, b. c. 1916, Ohio. At home in 1930. Unclear whether in the SSDI. Not mentioned as surviving in the obit. of his brother, Gordon. Not in CA Death Index.
  4. Gordon Brown Prentice, b. 30 Jul 1919, Ohio. . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . [2]

2. Gordon Brown Prentice, b. 30 Jul 1919, OH and d. 1 Apr 2001.. At home in 1930. He appears in the SSDIU as Gordin B. Prentice shown in the SSDI as b. 30 Jul 1919, obtained his SS# in OH, and d. 1 Apr 2001 in Paradise, Butte Co., CA. His obituary reads as follows:

    Gordon Prentice, 4/7/2001

    Gordon Brown Prentice was a bomber pilot with the Army Air Forces during World War II. His career in flying continued as a charter pilot. Mr. Prentice died Sunday in Chico. The Paradise resident was 81. He was born to George and Annie Prentice in Ohio. He was a member of Elks Lodge No. 2026. Mr. Prentice, a widower, is survived by a sister, Hazel Prentice of Burbank; and a nephew.

    At his request, no services are planned. Paradise Chapel of the Pines is in charge of his cremation. He will be placed in Paradise Cemetery.

He m. Reba J., b. 11 Aug 1905, ID, and d. 26 Apr 1970. Bur. with her husband in the Paradise Cemetery.

Who are George Prentice's Parents?

The only clue we have for now comes from the 1930 census which says that both of his parents were born in Scotland and later emigrated to English Canada where George was born.
