    ANNA EVELYN (AASTEN) PRENTICE

Anna Evelyn (Aasten) Prentice was born in Seattle, April 14, 1918. She passed away August 28, 2004, at Olympic Care and Rehabilitation Center in Sequim peacefully in her sleep at the age of 86. She was the dau. of John G. Aasten (1887-1971) and Karen M. (1893-1980),

She grew up in Seattle in the Capitol Hill area of Madison Street and moved to Queen Anne and Thomas, where her parents owned the grocery store (now a post office). She graduated from Queen Anne High School.

She was married in 1940 to Hugh Prentice, and lived at 13th and Denny for the next 64 years. She loved her job at J.C. Penney's for 25 years. When our father passed on in 1985, she had her thrifty shop at her homesite. Over the years, she became known as ``Queen Anne'' by most of the community on Capitol Hill. Wonderful friends and their pets often stopped by to visit as she sat on her porch and in her little shop.

She is survived by one sister, Molly Aasten of Seattle; three daughters, Darlene Morgison of Port Angeles, Karen Prentice of Gainesville, Florida, and Sharen Schaefer of Newcastle, Washington; 17 grandchildren, 19 great grandkids and 3 great-great grandkids.

The family gives special thanks and gratitude to Robert Schmidt for being there throughout the years, for keeping her yard properly maintained, running errands and getting her help when needed. A true friend and renter, he was like a son to our mother as they became very close. Thank you again, Robert, from the family.

She was laid to rest at the Evergreen-Washelli Cemetery in Seattle. Always loved -- always remembered.

Children of Hugh and Anna:

  2. Karen Prentice of Gainesville, Florida. In 2004 she lived in Gainesville, FL.
