1. Charles Prentiss was b. between 1800 and 1810. He appears in the 1840 census in Bethel, Sullivan Co., NY, as age 30-40.
Also in the househould is a female, age 20-30 and b. between 1810 and 1820, probably Charles' wife, and:
- (probable daughter), b. c. 1835-1840.
The 1850 census in Bethel shows a household consisting of:
- John Prentiss, b. c. 1820, NY. He might be Charles brother or son.
- Catharine Prentiss, b. c. 1831, NY, probably John's wife.
- Lydia Van Victor, b. c. 1772, NJ, probably Catharine's mother.
Shown next door to John's family in the 1850 Bethel census is the family of:
- Isaac Van Victor, b. c. 1796, NY (probably Lydia's son and Catharine's brother)
- Maria, his wife, b. c. 1795, NY,
- David Van Victor, has son, b. c. 1825, NY.
