1. Robert Prentice was b. c. 1827, Norwich St. Stephen, Norfolk. He appears in the 1861 census in Norwich St. Stephen, Norfolk, as b. c. 1826 with his wife and family.
He m.Mary Ann Potter, b. c. 1826-1831, Norwich, Norfolk. She later appears, without her husband, in the 1881 census living at 9 Back St., in Norwich St. Stephen, Norfolk. Living with Mary Ann and her family in 1881 was her brother, Richard Potter. Children per 1861 and 1881 census:
- Anna Prentice, b. c. 1847, Norwich, Norfolk.
- Robert Prentice, b. c. 1858, Norwich, Norfolk. At home in 1861. Not in 1871 and later census.
- William Prentice, b. c. 1859, Norwich, Norfolk. . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . [2]
- Richard Robert Prentice, b. Sep 1866, Norwich, Norfolk. . . . . . . . . . [3]
- Christmas C. Prentice, son, b. c. 1869, Norwich. At home in 1881 in Norwich St. Stephen, Norfolk.
2. William Prentice, b. c. 1859, Norwich, Norfolk. At home in 1881 in Norwich St. Stephen, Norfolk. He is tentatively identified as the William Prentice shown in the 1891 census in St. Benedict, Norfolk, as b. c. 1861 in Norwich, Norfolk, and single. Also shown is his Housekeeper, Lucretia S.Goldsmith, b. c. 1855, Somerleyton, Suffolk, and 6 years older than William..
The following childred are indexed with Prentice surnames (the microfilm shows them listed under Lucretia S. Goldsmith with a "@" for their surname), but that may be an error since William is shown as single, rather than married or a widower, and since the oldest, Ellen, was b. c. 1876 when William would have been only 17. In any event, the indexed children are:
- Ellen Prentice, b. c. 1876, Norwich, Norfolk.
- Ann Prentice, b. c. 1891, Norwich, Norfolk.
- Beatrice M. Prentice, b. c. 1890, Norwich, Norfolk. At home in 1901.
- Richard S. Prentice, b. c. 1889, Norwich, Norfolk. At home in 1901.
- William Prentice, b. c. 1887, Norwich, Norfolk. At home in 1891. Not in 1901 census.
- Thomas E. Prentice, b. c. 1896, Norwich, Norfolk. At home in 1901.
Curiously, however, in the 1901 Norwich census, where William is shown as b. c. 1857 and as a "Fish Hawker", Lucretia S. is shown as William's wife with those same children again indexed as sons and daughters who are surnamed "Prentice."
3. Richard Robert Prentice, b. Sep 1866, Norwich, Norfolk, and d. 1929. At home in 1881 in Norwich St. Stephen, Norfolk.
He m. Louisa. She was b. 1871 in Norwich, Norfolk, and d. 1955. They had 1 or more children, including:
- Robert Prentice, b. Jun 1895, Norwich, Norfolk, and d. 1946. . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . [4]
4. Robert Prentice, b. Jun 1895, Norwich, Norfolk, and d. 1946.
He m. Mary Ann Taggart. She w as b. c. 1900 in Middlesborough, Yorkshire, and d. 1965. An Ancestor Chart for can be found at Ancestry.com . They had a daughter:
- (dau.) Prentice. She m. Mr. Swann.
