Who are Richard Thomas Alfred Prentice's Parents?

Queensland records say that Richard was the son of Richard Prentice and Mary Jane Unknown. For now, nothing further is known about them.

A search of England census records for a Richard Prentice in Warwickshire shows a Richd Prentice, b. c. 1793 in Warwickshire and in the 1841 census living in Stoneleigh, Warwickshire, with his wife, Elizabeth, b. c. 1795, Warwickshire, and children:

  1. Ann Prentice, b. c. 1831, Warwickshire.
  2. Elizabeth Prentice, b. c. 1829, Warwickshire.
  3. Josh Prentice, b. c. 1834, Warwickshire. Not in 1851 census.

However, Elizabeth would be much too old to be the mother of the 1861 Warwickshire Richard Prentice.

The IGI shows Richard as the son of James Prentice and Anne, not Richard and Mary Jane. See our Summer 2001 article About William Prentice of Birmingham, Warwickshire, England . It might be possible that Richard had a 2nd, younger, wife named Mary Jane, but there is no presently available evidence of that.
