We found the following information in the on-line LDS book entitled "Ancestors and Descendants of the James Family; Chapter 5, Descendants of Thomas Burwell and Miss Prentice:

1. Miss Prentice or Prentys was b. c. 1558-1575, perhaps in Sutton, Hertfordshire, England. The IGI suggests a birth date and place of c. 1572 in Minsden, Hertfordshire, England. An Ancestry.com website suggests 1572 in Sutton.

She m. Thomas Burwell who was b. 29 Apr 1560, in Sutton England and d. 17 Aug 1649 in Milford, New Haven Co., CT. They emigrated to America in the 1600s and eventually settled in the vicinith of Milford, CT. An Ancestor Chart for him can be found at Ancestry.com . They had 1 or more children. omc;idomg:

  1. John Burwell, b. 5 Oct 1602, in Hemel, Hempstead, Herts, England. . . . . [2]

2. John Burwell, b. Oct 5, 1602, in Hemel, Hempstead, Herts, England, and d. 17 Aug 1649 in Milford, CT. An Ancestor Chart for him can be found at Ancestry.com .

John and his wife emigrated to Massachusetts in the 1630s. He was admitted to the church on 7 Apr 1641. While in Milford, he received a large share of land 4 miles from town as a free planter.

He m. Alice Heath, probably in England. She d. 19 Dec 1666. They had 7 children, including:

  1. Samuel Burwell 1640 – 1715
  2. Ephraim Burwell 1644 –
  3. Nathan Burwell 1646 –
  4. Elizabeth Burwell 1647 – .
