We are working with Dorothy Cooper in Australia in tracing her Prentice line. Here is what we have so far:

1. John Prentice may have been b. c. 1702, Cair, Carluke, Scotland (per Amanda, email, 14 Aug 2005).

He m. Marion Hastie on 19 Jun 1726, Gair. She was b. c. 1704, Carluke and d. 9 Mar 1751, Carluke. and they had 1 or more children, including (per IGI):

1. Jean Prentice, b. 1726, Carluke.
2. Marrion Prentice, b. 1728, Carluke. She may, or may not, be the Marion Prentice who m. James Inglis on 29 Jul 1750 in Carluke.
3. Antonia Prentice, b. 1730, Carluke.
4. James Prentice, b. 1732, Carluke. He may, or may not, be the James Prentice who. m. Janet Morton on 25 Jan 1755 in Carluke. They had 1 or children, including James Prentice, chr. 1768, Carluke,
5. John Prentice, b. 1734, Carluke. He may, or may not, be either the John Prentice who. m. Margaret Russel on 31 May 1755 in Carluke or the John Prentice who m. Janet Elder on 20 Aug 1756 in Carluke.
6. Mary Prentice, b. 1736, Carluke.
7. Thomas Prentice, b. 1738, Carluke.

Who are John Prentice's Parents?

Glasgow Records show 2 persons named John Prentice (using spelling variations of that surname) who were b. in Carluke about 1702:

1. John Prentis, chr. 25 Jan 1702, Carluke, son of James Prentis/Prentice, b. c. 1668, perhaps Carluke or elsewhere, and buried 30 Apr 1734. Mother not named. The IGI also shows siblings
   - Marion, dau., chr. 13 May 1694, Cambusnethan, and
   - Marian, dau., chr. 25 Jan 1703, Carluke.
   Glasgow Records also show a Marian Prenties chr. 31 Dec 1704, Carluke.

2. John Prenties, chr. 6 Jun 1703, Carluke, son of John Prenties. Mother not named.
