1. John Prentice was b. c. 1836 in Scotland and d. 7 Aug 1906 in Beulah, Victoria, Australia, per Ancestry.com .
He m. Mary Usher. She was b. c. 1850 in Mauritius, and d. 1914 in Beaufort, Victoria, Australia. Children:
- Thomas Black Prentice 1878 1937
- James Black Prentice 1880
- Margaret Emily Prentice 1881 1977
- John Murdoch Prentice 1886
2, John Murdock Prentice was b. c. 1886 or 1887 in Buanger, Australia, although Ellis Island emigation records, below, identify England as the Country of which he was a citizen or subject.
He appears on Ellis Island emigration records as a Military Officer and resident of Melbourne, Australia. He is shown arriving on 1 Mar 1920 aboard a ship which had departed from Liverpool, England. The stated purpose of his visit was to visit a half-brother, Mr. J. R. Sands of Talladega, Alabama for a visit of indefinate length. He is described as 5' 9", fair complexion fair hair and blue eyes.
The record identifies a sister, Miss M. Prentice of Beaufort, Victoria, Australia.
