1. James Prentice was b. c. 1842, Scotland. He appears in the 1881 Wales census as an "Agent (Railway Contractor)" living at 7 Mina St., Llanelly, Carmarthenshire, Wales.
He m. Mary Robertson in 1865 in Carluke. She was b. c. 1848, Scotland. Children (per census and IGI):
- Margaret Prentice, b. 29 May 1867, Carluke, Lanark, Scotland.
- Mary Prentice, b. 26 Aug 1869, Carluke, Lanark, Scotland.
- James Prentice, b. c. 1871, Scotland.
- Elizabeth Prentice, b. 15 May 1872, Carluke, Lanark, Scotland.
- Isabella Prentice, b. 7 Dec 1873, Carluke, Lanark, Scotland.
- William Prentice, b. c. 1879, Handsworth Moorhouse, Yorkshire.
James and his family do not appear in the 1891 or 1901 census.
Although we cannot be certain, we located a William Prentice of Glasgow and a Mary G. Robertson in Ancestry.com, but no dates were given for either person, and no birth place was given for Mary. 3 sons were indicated, but without any further information.
