Also living with them in 1881, but not 1891, was Elizabeth Lott, b. c. 1807, Bradfield, and called "mother," although probably Eliza's mother rather than James' mother. Who are Henry Prentice's Parents?

Although further investigation is needed for confirmation, Henry may be the Henry Prentice who was chr. 9 Aug 1775 at Aldham, Suffolk, England, son of Henry Prentice and Susan Walker who were m. 16 Aug 1775 at Aldham (per IGI). Aldham lies less than a mile SSW of Elmsett. No other children for Henry and Susan appear in the IGI. Henry d. 27 Jan 1844 at the age of 69 in Aldham (per Prentice Nat. We found an IGI marriage for Emily Prentice who m. Walter Kistruck at Aldham on 24 Oct 1875. She is likely a daughter of John, James or Levi Prentice, above, of Aldham.

The 1881 census record Dedham, Essex, England, show that Walter (called Kistrick) was b. c. 1856, Aldham, and that Emily was b. c. 1853 in Aldham. They are shown with 1 son:
