He m. Alice M. Phinney, b. c. 1875, OH, and in 1880 living in Rockport, Cuyahoga Co., OH. She was the dau. of Benjamin Phinney (b. c. 1845, OH or c. 1849, OH, per 1920 census) and Ava Barnum (b. c. 1851, OH and living with Fred and Alice in the 1920 census).

Fred and Alice appear in the 1920 and 1930 census in Cleveland Heights, Cuyahoga Co., OH. They had 2 or more children, including:

  1. Benjamin Prentiss, b. c. 1902, OH, and living at home in the 1930 census. He is likely the Benjamin Prentiss shown in the SSDI as b. 19 Jan 1902 and d. Nov 1977 at Gates Mills,Cuyahoga Co., OH He m. Ann Marie and had 1 or more children, including:
    1. Mary Prentiss. She m. Robert Ryder.

  2. John G. Prentiss, b. c. 1909, OH, and living at home in the 1930 census. He might be the John G. Prentiss shown in the SSDI as b. 11 Nov 1908, obtained his SS# in OH, and d. 10 Feb 1988 in Vero Beach, Indian River Co., FL. He m. Dorothy and had 2 or more children, including:
