Update of 2 Dec 2004: The 1850 census for Rushville, Schuyler Co., IL shows William to be the son of William Prentiss, b. c. 1813, OH, and his wife, Elizabeth, b. c. 1823, PA. They were m. 5 Sep 1847, Schuyler Co., IL, per Marriage Index.

1. William Prentiss was b. Sep 1848 in Iowa. He appears in the 1880 census for Macomb, McDonough Co., IL and in the 1900 census for Chicago, Cook Co., IL with his wife and family.

He m. Elizabeth Helen McCaughey, b. 30 Sep 1851 in IL. They were m. 24 Dec 1872 in Fulton Co., IL. Children:

  1. James Manley Prentiss, b. 26 Pct 1873 in Windom, Cottonwood Co., MN (per Ancestry.com). Not at home in 1900 census. Not in 1910, 1920 or 1930 census. Not in SSDI.
  2. Jackson McCaughey Prentiss, b. Jul 1875, MN. At home in 1900. Not in 1910, 1920 or 1930 census. Not in SSDI.
