1. William Prentice was b. c. 1820. There is some uncertainty about his birth place: the 1851 census says he was b. in Ongar, Essex; however the 1861 and 1871 census says he was b. in Moreton, Essex. But, like the 1851 census, the 1881 census says he was b. in Ongar, Essex. "Ongar" does not appear on our map; perhaps that should be "High Ongar" or "Chipping Ongar" which lie near each other. Moreton lies only about 5 miles NW of both High Ongar and Chipping Ongar.

He m. Ann, b. c. 1819, Edmonton. They appear in the 1851 census in Edmonton, Middlesex and in the 1881 census as a Tailor living on High St., Edmonton, Middlesex. William does not appear in the 1891 and 1901 census. Children:

However, there is a possibility that they may be the father of Harold James Prentice of Epsom, Surrey ; see that article for more information.

7. Charles G. Prentice, b. c. 1859, Southgate, Middlesex. He may be the same person as the Charles Samuel Prentice, b. c. 1859, Southgate. At home in 1881 census. Charles S. Prentice appears in the 1891 and 1901 census in Edmonton, Middlesex, with his wife, Harriet, b. c. 1859, Holwell, Somerset, and children:

1. Mabel H. Prentice, b. c. 1885, Southgate, Middlesex. At home in 1901.
