Thoughts About My Roots

Thoughts About My Roots
By Linus Joseph Dewald Jr., Editor
Winter 2003 and Revised 7 Dec 2003

In our Spring 2003 issue I had an article entitled Thoughts About Our Prentice Book . While again reading that article, it brought forth other thoughts which I would like to share with you.

    Thoughts About My Roots

We have a village of folks,
    all named in our book,
    and every so often
    I go take a look.

    And that's when I know
that the names are a part,
    not of a book,
but a part of my heart.

And each time that I look
    at all of my links,
to find them has changed me
    more than you think.

For each of them is someone
    no time can erase,
    a part of my being,
    the smile on my face.

    For I'm the sum total
    of all of my kin,
    of all their wives,
    and all of their men.

God bless them, one and all.
