We found the following family at Ancestry.com :

1. John Prentice was b. 20 Nov 1882, NY, NY, and d. 13 Oct 1961.. He appears in the 1910 census in the 4th Ward in Passaic, Passaic Co., NJ, as a Bank Teller with his wife. Living with them in 1910 was Mamie More, b. c. 1853, "Scot England", called Mother in Law. In the 1920 census they lived at 461 Highbrook Ave., in Pelham Manor, NY. In the 1930 census they lived at 443 Highbrook Ave., Pelham Manor, NY.

He m. Jessie E. Moore. She was b. 12 Nov 1883, NY, and d. Aug 1935. They had 3 children:

  1. George Prentice, b. 9 Nov 1911, Passaic, Morris Co., NJ. . . . . . . . . . . . . . . [2]
  2. Ruth A. Prentice, b. c. 1911, NJ. 1920 and 1930 in Pelham Manor, Westchester, NY.
  3. Margaret Wilson Prentice, b. 29 Sep 1917, Manhattan, NY, NY. . . . . . . . . . .[3]

2. George Prentice, b. 9 Nov 1911, Passaic, Morris Co., NJ, and d. 11 Jun 1967, Westbury, NY.

He m. Alva Christofferson on 16 Nov 1940. She was b. 6 Mar 1919 and d. 4 Jun 1995. Children:

  1. (son) Prentice.
  2. (dau.) Prentice.

3. Margaret Wilson Prentice, b. 29 Sep 1917, Manhattan, NY, NY, and d. 6 Sep 1995, White Plains, Westchester Co., NY.

She m. Alfred Joseph Forsberg on 11 Oct 1940, Gramatan Hotel, Bronxville, Westchester Co., NY. He was b. 14 Jun 1915, Mt. Vernon, Westchester Co., NY, and d. there on 19 Feb 1983. An Ancestor Chart for him can be found at Ancestry.com . Children:

  1. (dau.) Forsberg.
  2. (dau.) Forsberg.

Who are John Prentice's Parents?

The only clue we have so far is that the 1910 census says that both of his parents were "Scot English." Hypothesizing that that John's parents might appear in the 1880 NY census, we examined that record. There was no listing for a husband and wife with the Prentice surname.
