Update of 14 Aug 2008: John Prentice is a son of William Prentice of Ilford and in #5 in our Spring 2003 article about the Prentices of Great Ilford . That article now replaces this article.
Kerry Prentice has provided us with information about the following family:
1. John Prentice was b. c. 1818, Ilford, Essex. He appears in the 1851 Stoke Newington census with his wife, Fanny/Francis, b. c. 1823, Bethnal Green, London, and children:
- John William Prentice, chr. 12 Apr 1840, St. Mary, Whitechapel, Stepney, London (per census and IGI). He does not appear in the 1881 census.
- Elizabeth Prentice, b. c. 1842, Whitechapel, London.
- Ann Prentice, b. c. 1845, Whitechapel, London.
- Fanny Prentice, b. c. 1848, Clapton, Middlesex.
- Maria Prentice, b. c. 1880, Clapton, Middlesex.
John Prentice does not appear in the IGI or the 1881 census.
John Prentice's birthplace, Ilford, suggests he may be a son of William Prentice of Ilford who appears in our Spring 2003 article about the Prentices of Great Ilford .
