We are helping Janet Bender in tracing her Prentice roots. Here is what we have so far:
1. Unknown Prentice was likely b. c. 1840-50 and likely in Lanarkshire, Scotland. He had 1 or more children, including:
- Janet Prentice, b. c. 1872. . . . . . . [2]
2. Janet Prentice was b. c. 1872 in Lanarkshire, Scotland. She m. Thomas Sleith in 1894 when Janet was then 22 years of age. Thomas was also of Lanarkshire.
In reviewing the 1881 census and looking for a Janet Prentice who was about 8-10 years of age, we found a Janet Prentice, age 8 and b. c. 1872-3, in Perth, Perth, Scotland, dau. of William and Mary Prentice who, in 1881, were living at Perth Middle Church, Perth. It is possible that they might have moved to Lanarkshire by the time of Janet's marriage.
It is, of course, possible that Janet and her family were missed in the 1881 census, so further investigation is needed to confirm the identity of Janet's parents.
