We found the following information posted by Elizabeth at Ancestry.com and have augmented it with information we have located in the IGI, census records, and ThePeerage.com :

1. George Prentice was b. g 1765, Whitburn, West Lothian, Scotland. He is called "of Carnwath", Lanark, Scotland (per Ancestry.com and IGI) which suggests that he may have lived for a time in Carnwath. (Ref: Ancestry.com .

He m. Isabel Booth on 3 Sep 1796 in Mid Calder, Edinburgh, Scotland. She was b. c. 1766 in Livingston, West Lothian.. Children (per IGI and Glasgow Records):

  1. James Prentice, chr. 18 Aug 1797 Livingston, West Lothian, Scotland. he appears in the 1861 census in Abbotshell, Fife, with nieces and nephews; see #3, below. He was a farmer living at Bankhead Farm House with 400 acres and "Empl & 10 Men 12 Acres & 3 Boy".

3. George Prentice, chr. 13 Jul 1805, Kinghorn the 1851 census incorrectly calles it Kingham), Fife, Scotland (see map). George and his family, without his wife, appear in the 1851 census in Edinburgh St. Cuthberts. Still later, he appears, without his wife, in the 1861 census in Kinghorn, Fifeshire, where he is shown as a Farmer of 500 Scotch Acres employing 10 Plowmen, 10 Labourers & 15 women. A Scotch Acre was equal to 1.26 of an English Acre.

He held the office of Lord Advocate between 1933 and 1935. He graduated from Oriel College, Oxford University, Oxford, Oxfordshire, in 1934 with a Master of Arts (M.A.). He held the office of Lord President of the Court of Session between 1935 and 1947. He held the office of Lord Justice General of Scotland between 1935 and 1947. He was created Baron Normand, of Aberdour in the County of Fife [U.K. Law Lord] on 6 January 1947. He held the office of Lord of Appeal in Ordinary between 6 January 1947 and 1953.

He m. 1st. Gertrude Lawson, daughter of William Lawson, on 22 July 1913. Children:
