Connie Eccles has provided us with information about the following family which we have supplemented with census information: We have supplemented that information with information found on Ancestry.com. Here is what we have so far:
1. Eliza Jane Prentice was b. 23 Apr 1816, NY, and d. 10 Sep 1874, White Lake Twp., Oakland Co., MI. She appears in the 1880 census in Park, St. Joseph Co., MI without her husband but with some of her children
She m. George Kellogg who was b. c16 Jun 1812, CT, and d 1 Nov 1872. He was a farmer and they appear in the 1850 and 1860 census in Ray, Macomb Co., MI. 1870 census in White Lake Twp., Oakland Co., MI.

- Ella Kellogg, b. c. 1869, MI. At home in 1870. However, relationships are not shown in the 1870 census, so, given the age spread after the previous daughter, Ella might be a daughter of one of George's sons and whose wife bears a Prentice surname, above.
2. Mary Jane Kellogg, b. 23 Dec 1839, Ray, Macomb Co., MI, and d. 1908 per Ancestry.com .
She m. Elisha Deming Lathrop on 19 Apr 1864, Armada, Macomb Co., MI. He was b. 25 Dec 1839, Armada and d. 5 Mar 1905. An Ancestor Chart for him can be found at Ancestry.com . They had 1 or more children, including:
- Frank Elisha Lathrop, b. 7 Feb 1865, Armada, Macomb Co., MI. He m. 1st Anna. He m. 2nd Ruth B. Barrows (1869-1892) and had Lawrence B. Lathrop (1892-1974). He m. 3rd Jean Hamilton (1872-1914)
3. Orson Kellogg, b. c. 1847, MI. At home in 1870. At home in 1880 census in Park, St. Joseph Co., MI.
He m. Sarah c. 1867. She was b. c. 1844. Children per Ancestry.com :
- Ella Kellogg 1868
- Charles Kellogg 1876
- Josa Kellogg 1878
- Mabel Kellogg 1883
- Edith Kellogg 1885
4. Daniel Kellogg, b. 2 Jan 1852, MI, and d. 29 Nov 1876, age 24 years, White Lake Twp., Oakland Co., MI,
He m. Josephine Garner. She was b. 28 Dec 1854 and d. 1941. She was the dau. of John Garner and Sarah Coryell. Daughter:
- Maud Kellogg 1875 - 1895
After Daniel died, Josephine m. 2nd Joseph Jackson (1850-1935) and had 3 more children per Ancestry.com ..
Although further investigation is needed for confirmation, she might be the Eliza Jane Prentice who is the daughter of Christopher and Matilda Prentice.
