Spring 2004 and Revised 24 Jan 2009

1. Amos Prentiss was b. c. 1857 to 1860 in MA (per 1910 and 1930 census). Not in the 1860, 1870, or 1900 census. Not in Ancestry.com families as of Jan 2009.

He appears in the 1910 (b. c. 1860) Revere, Suffolk Co., MA census as an Inspector for the Telephone Company. He later appears in the 1920 Revere census as an Inspector for the Telephone Company, and in the 1930 Revere, Middlesex Co., MA census with his wife and family.

He m. Annie F., b. c. 1873, MA, with both parents b. in MA. Known children:

  1. Charles A. Prentiss, b. c. 1896, MA. . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . [2]
  2. Lillian G. Prentiss, b. c. 1898, MA. At home in Revere in 1910, 1920 and 1930.

2. Charles A. Prentiss, b. c. 1896, MA. At home in Revere in 1910. Not home in 1920.

Although further confirmation is needed, he may be the Charles A.Prentiss shown in the 1920 census in Boston, Suffolk Co., MA, as b. c. 1897, MA, with both parents b. in MA, with his wife and family. He may be the Charles A. Prentiss shown in the 1930 Boston census as a Lodger, married, but with no wife or family shown. He might be the Charles Prentiss shown in the SSDI as b. 30 Mar 1896, obtained his SS# in MA, and d. Jun 1973 in Enfield, Hartford Co., CT.

That 1920 census Charles m. Madaline J., b. c. 1899, ME, with her father b. in English Canada and mother in ME. Not shown in the 1930 census. It is unclear whether she is the Madelyne Prentiss shown in the SSDI as b. 20 Nov 1898, obtained her SS# in MA, and d. Nov 1970 in Sylmar, Los Angeles Co., CA.

Known children:

  1. Roberta Prentiss, b. c. 1919, MA. At home in Boston in 1920. Not shown in the 1930 census.

Who are Amos Prentiss' Parents?

The only clue we have is that the 1910 census shows his father as b. in MA and mother in England.

Investigation is continuing.
