Alexander was killed by an airplane crashing into his apt. building and leaving him trapped in the hallway of the building. His spouse, Lizzie, my mother Joan, my uncle the son of Alexander, Alden, and cousin Bobby, grandson of Alexander, could hear his cries for help from the parking lot of the apartments, but could do nothing to help him. He was burned to death in the building. Soon after Lizzie,Alden and Bobby all moved to California (per Danny Terry who m. to Elizabeth Koller, granddaughter of Alexander Prentiss and Ancestry.com).

In reviewing our NJ census records, we note that our copy of the 1880 NJ census indicates that both of Alexander's parents were born in Canada. Although no specific location in Canada was mentioned, it seems like a reasonable inference that perhaps his parents may also have been born in Nova Scotia. A guess as to the birthdate of his father would be sometime between 1790 and 1820.

The 1880 census also shows that Alexander's wife, Annie, was born in NJ and that their son, Edward, was then 2 years old.
