and Saint Batolph Without Aldgate, London, England
Spring 2001 and Revised 26 Jan 2001
Robert Prentise was b. c. 1580-90 and probably in London. The IGI shows he m. Marye BERRYE on 21 Jun 1608 at Saint Mary Magdalene Old Fish Street, London, London, England. Their children included the following who are listed in the IGI:
- Ann Prentise, chr. Apr 1611, Saint Mary Magdalene Old Fish Street, London
- Marye Prentise, chr. 24 Oct 1613, Saint Mary Magdalene Old Fish Street, London
- Samuell Prentise, chr. 9 Jul 1609, Saint Mary Magdalene Old Fish Street, London
- William Prentes (sic), chr. 16 Jul 1617, Saint Mary Magdalene Old Fish Street.
Although only a guess at this point, he may be the Robart Prentice, shown in the IGI, who was chr. 25 Jan 1590 at Saint Botolph Bishopsgate, London. That Robert was the son of William Prentice who may have been b. c. 1550-70, and perhaps on London. The name of the mother was not given. William also had a daughter, Elizabeth Prentice, chr. 25 Feb 1588, Saint Botolph Bishopsgate, London.
We also find in the IGI an Alyce Prentice, b. c. 1570-75, who m. Thomas Wilson on 30 Jun 1594, Saint Botolph Bishopsgate, London. Her relationship to William and Robert, if any, is unknown.
As to William's possible parents, we find in the IGI a Thomas Prentis who had the following children:
- Christian Prentis, chr. 1 May 1567, St. Botolph Without Aldgate, London London (called dau. of "Prentis")
- (perhaps) Jacomyn Prentis, chr. 2 Feb 1568, St. Botolph Without Aldgate, London (called dau. of "Prentis")
- (perhaps) Elizabeth Prentis, chr. 21 Jan 1570, St. Botolph Without Aldgate,
- Thomas Prentis, chr. 23 Aug 1573, St. Botolph Without Aldgate, London
We also find a Repent Prentis, chr. 24 Dec 1596, St. Botolph Without Aldgate, London. He is identified in the IGI as the son of Paringe Prentis. His relationship to the others, if any, is not known.
