Working from the IGI and information provided in an email from Karina Randall dated 17 Jul 2001, we have constructed the following family tree:

Robert Prentice was b. c 1821, Lanark, Lanarkshire (per 1851 census) and d. 9 May 1906, age about 85, and is buried in the Lanark Cemetery (St. Kentigern's Churchyard, Lanark, Scotland.

He m. Margaret Smith on 22 Dec 1839 in Lanark, Lanarkshire (per Glasgow Records). She was b. c. 1821, Lanark, Lanarkshire, and d. 24 May 1895, age about 74. She is also buried in St. Kentigern's Churchyard. Known children (NOTE: the 1851 census says they were born at Lanark, Lanark, but the 1861 census says they were born at Stonehouse, Lanarkshire, which lies about 10 miles to the NW):

1. David Prentice, b. 21 Jul 1842, Lanark, Lanark, Scotland. He is probably the David Prentice shown in the IGI as marrying Elizabeth Mofffat on 7 Jun 1865 at Lanark, Lanark, Scotland. No children are shown for them in the IGI.
2. Elizabeth Prentice, b. 17 Aug 1844, Lanark, Lanark, Scotland
3. Robert Prentice, b. 13 Nov 1846, Lanark, and d. 5 Sep 1849, age 3. Bur. St. Kentigern's.
4. Janet Prentice, b. c. 1749, d. 1 Nov 1883, age 34, and bur. St. Kentigern's.
5. Helen Prentice, b. 26 Jun 1855, Lanark, and d. 7 Oct 1856, age 1. Bur. St. Kentigern's.
6. Robert Prentice, b. 23 Dec 1859 and probably is the "infant" bur. at St. Kentigern's.
7. George Prentice, b. 27 Aug 1861, Lanark, d. 13 May 1930, age 68, and bur. St. Kentigern's. He m. 1st Helen S. Paterson who d. at the age of 27. He m. 2nd Elizabeth Petrie who was b. c. 1861, d. 30 Aug 1902, age 41. Both wives are buried at St. Kentigerns.

We do not find Robert in the IGI, but we do note that his parents might be the Robert Prentice who m. Isobel Smith on 20 Feb 1820 at Lanark, Lanarkshire. That was about a year or so before his birth date of c. 1821 shown in the 1851 census.
