Barbara Prentice was b. c. 1945-57, perhaps in Plymouth, MA (as was her sister Lynne Prentice, below) and living in Jan 2006. We do not know if her maiden surname was Prentice (see Lynne Prentice, below). Children of Barbara Prentice:

  1. Adam G. Prentice. b. in Plymouth, MA c. 1976 and d. Sep 1997 at Amherst when, according to police accounts, he may have accidentally fellen through the roof of a campus greenhouse. Additional information can be found at Barbara Prentice's website at What Happened to Adam Prentice .

    His obituary appears in the 1 Oct 1997 Patriot Ledger, Quincy. He was studying computer engineering at the University of Massachusetts Amherst and was in his junior year at U/Mass. He was a 1995 graduate of Barnstable High School. He played on the varsity soccer team in high school and was captain of the junior varsity "Red Raiders" Hockey Team in Barnstable. He also played football and basketball and was an avid sports fan. Funeral services were at the United Methodist Church in Osterville. Burial was in Beach Wood Cemetery.

  3. Abbi Prentice, living in Centerville, MA.

Lynne Prentice was b. 31 Jul 1959 (per SSDI) in Plymouth, MA and d. 2 Jan 1996 in MA Gen. Hosp. in Boston. Her last residence was Centerville, Barnstable Co., MA (per SSDI). Her obit. appears in the 3 Jan 1996 Patriot Ledger, Quincy, MA. She was a receiving clerk for Rich's Department Store in Plymouth for more than 15 years. Her death followed a long illness. She graduated from Plymouth Carver High School in 1977. She attended Fisher Junior College and Cape Cod Community College. She lived in East Wareham for seven months and six years in Hyannis prior to that. She is survived by two sisters:

  • Maryann Nunes of Plymouth and
  • Barbara Prentice of Centerville (see Barbara Prentice item, above).

A funeral service was held at 10 a.m. Friday in Osterville Baptist Church. Burial was om Vine Hills Cemetery, Plymouth.


William "Pinky" Prentice m. Thelma G. DeMone, b. c. 1924. He might be the William H. Prentice shown in the SSDI as b. 13 Jul 1924, who obtained his SS# in MA, and d. 27 May 1992 at an unspecified location. He may also be the same person as William H. Prentice, b. c. 1924-25, MA, who appears in the 1930 census in Cambridge, Middlesex Co., MA, son of William H. Prentice, b. c. 1893, MA, and his wife, Emmeline, b. c. 1895, MA. Thelma d. in Jan 1999 and her obituary appears in the 14 Jan 1995 Patriot Ledger, Quincy, MA. Her obit reads as follows:

    Thelma G. (DeMone) Prentice, 71, of Port Richie, Fla., formerly of Plymouth, a former piano player in a Florida senior citizens band -- died Thursday at home. Born in Medford, she graduated from Medford High School.

    Mrs. Prentice was an office worker at Ocean Spray Cranberry for three years and was a volunteer driver during the 1950s and 1960s for Project FISH, a forerunner of the hospice program. Mrs. Prentice was also a bellringer and choir member of the Church of the Pilgrimage while she lived in Plymouth, and a member of the Abicom Club of Abington.

    Ten years ago, she moved to Florida where she played piano with a seniors' band. Wife of the late William "Pinky" Prentice. A funeral service was held at the Richard Davis Funeral Home. Burial at Plymouth County Cemetery. She was survived by two sons:

    • Richard W. Prentice of Carver
    • Kenneth W. Prentice of Florida. See book.

Anita M. Prentiss, b. c. 1920, m. Albert R. Benson. The 1930 census for Quincy, Norfolk Co., MA shows her as the dau. of Harland A. and Cecilia A. Prentiss, desc. of Valentine-3 Prentice. Her obit. appears in the 13 Apr 1999 Patriot Ledger, Quincy, MA. It reads as follows:

    Obituary: BRAINTREE -- Anita M. (Prentiss) Benson, 79, of Braintree died Sunday at home after a brief illness. Mrs. Benson was a member of the Ladies Auxiliary of the Weymouth Eagles and the friendship team of the Bethany Congregational Church. She was a professional tap and acrobatic dancer in the late 1930s and early 1940s. Mrs. Benson lived in Braintree for 40 years. A funeral service was held at the Bethany Congregational Church, Quincy. Burial was at Oak Grove Cemetery, Martha's Vineyard. Surviving children:
    • Charles H. Benson of Dennisport
    • Charlene Benson who m. Mr. Judge of Rockland
    • Alita Benson who m. Mr. Norkus of Braintree
