Prentice Perfume

Prentice Perfume
Spring 2001 and Revised 1 Apr 2001

By L. J. Dewald, Editor

Scott Prentice, Webmaster at PrenticeNet, announced today that "We wanted to have the first perfume designed especially for Prentices (Fn. 1) and it will be available in about 10 days through PrenticeNet."

The scent is the brainchild of Scott Prentice's father, Lee Prentice, who, about 18 months ago, thought about coming up with a new and distinctive fragrance. He knew it would be a challenge, given that more than 150 new perfumes are launched each year. "We knew there is complete saturation in the market, but we saw the potential of a completely different fragrance unique to the Prentice, Prentiss and Prentiss genealogical backgrounds."

With the aid of more than 25 Prentice researchers who examined hundreds of early Prentice Wills to identify the contents of the homes of early colonial Prentice families, he was able to synthesize the resultant scent which would have been produced by such items to an accuracy within plus or minus 3 percent.

The result is "Colonial Prentice" - a nostalgic fragrance described as "light, fresh, unisex and very patriotic. The scent is layered like other perfumes and is a mixture of rosewood and orange leaves, freesia, osmanthus, fresh-baked bread and just a suggestion of clean, sun-dried laundry.

Tried by a test panel carefully balanced to include equal numbers of male and female descendants of each of the Prentice, Prentis and Prentiss surnames, all agreed that the perfume would create a closer, and more positive, rapport. (Fn. 2)

If you would like a free, quart sample, we would like to hear from you.  You may contact Scott Prentice at Scott@prenticenet.com.

Fn. 1: Scott made it clear that when he used the surname, Prentice, he intended it to include those with the surnames Prentis and Prentiss.

Fn. 2: Two additional components (barn at milking time and distant outhouse) were removed at the panel's insistence. Copies of the Panelists' findings are scheduled for release in about 30 days.
