Spring 2002 and Revised 13 Mar 2002
We are helping Herb McArt in tracing his Prentice family tree. Here is what we have so far:
1. Mary Ann Prentice may have been b. c. 1800 to 1810 and perhaps in the vicinity of Lanark, Lanark, Scotland where her children were born.
She m. Daniel Robertson on 11 Jul 1824 in Lanark, Lanark, Scotland where the IGI and marriage record calls her "Marion Ann Prentice." (per IGI and Christine Hadden, email, 12 Mar 2002). Daniel's birth date and place is not yet known, but it may have been c. 1795 to 1810. He might be:
- the son of Daniel Robertson who m. Elisabeth Livingston on 26 May 1801 in Glasgow, or
- the son of Daniel Robertson who m. Mary Rourke c. 1804 and perhaps in Glasgow, or
- the son of Daniel Robertson who m. Elisabeth Campbell on 9 Feb 1806 in Glasgow.
Children of Mary Ann and Daniel as shown in the IGI:
- John Robertson, b. 21 Oct 1825 and chr. 30 Oct 1825, Lanark, Lanark, Scotland
- James Robertson, b. 5 May 1829 Glasgow, Lanark, Scotland
- Elizabeth Coutts Robertson, b. 21 Dec 1831 Glasgow, Lanark, Scotland
She might be the only Marion Ann Prentice/Prentice shown in the IGI in that time frame; the IGI shows she was chr. 18 Mar 1804 at Abbey (Paisley), Renfrew, daughter of James Printice and Helen Ross. Renfrew and Paisley lie a short distance west of Glasgow.
The IGI shows James and Helen to be the James Prentes who m. Hellen Ross on 23 Oct 1802 at Abbey (Paisley), Renfrew, Scotland.
