• Update of 2 Jun 2020: Email from Terry Irwin, grandson of Loren Lee Prentice, provides more details.

The Kansas City Star of 4 Jan 2000 contains an obituary for Loren Lee Prentice of Kansas City, MO. Soem of the following was taken from the obituary, and some provided by Terry Irwin:

1. Loren Lee Prentice, was b. c. 1933, Kansas City, MO and d. 1 Jan 2000, at Bridgewood Nursing Home, Kansas City, MO. Burial in White Chapel Memorial Gardens. He had been a lineman with Southwestern Bell Telephone Co. and had served in the Air Force.

He m. 1st, to Shirley May Royston (divorced). They had three children:

1. Clifford Eugene Prentice (went by Gene), St. Joseph, MO., d. c. 2013. [2]
2. Marvin Cecil Prentice, b. 22 Jul 1951, probably MO, obtained his SS# in MO, and d. 7 Feb 1982 per sSSDI. (killed in a car accident at 435 and Gregory in Kansas City)
3. Brenda Diane Prentice. She m. Mr. Crouch, Riverside, MO. d. 2016. [3]

He m. 2nd, to Susan (divorced), in 2000 she lived in Grandview, MO. They had two children (probably b. after 1955):

1. Laura Lea Prentice. She m. Mr. Callen, Kansas City, MO.
2. Michael Steven Prentice, Kansas City, MO.

He m. 3rd, to Carolyn. They lived in San Jose, CA. They had one dau:

1. Carolyn Prentice.

Not sure where (or if) Lily fits in ...

• Lily Prentice, b. after 1930. She m. Allen Horn, Gladstone, MO.

2. Clifford Eugene Prentice was married several times. One son with first wife:

1. Robert Prentice.

3. Brenda Diane Prentice (b. 29 Jun 1952) married on 27 Jun 1968 to Terry Dean Irwin (b. 1 Jul 1950) at Claycomo Baptist Church in Claycomo, MO. They had 3 children:

1. Terry Irwin.
2. Michelle Diane Irwin
3. Elisa Dawn Irwin

We note that Loren Lee Prentice named his son, Marvin and that there is a Marvin Prentice, b. c. 1906, KS, shown in the 1930 census in Kansas City, Jackson Co., MO (both of his parents b. in KS) with his wife, Ruby Myer, b. c. 1913, KS (both of her parents b. in IA), dau. of Nora Myer in whose home they were living in the 1930 census; no father is shown..

If the foregoing is correct, then the 1906 Marvin Prentice's parents are Luther Franklin Prentice and Mary Elizabeth Sprague. Luther is a descendant of Isaac Prentice of Sheffield, MA whose roots we are researching.
