1. (perhaps son) John Prates was b. 1627 and the Ancestral Files calles him "of Alloa", suggesting that he may have been born at, or near, Alloa.

The IGI and Ancestral File does not identify John's parents, but the phonetic pronunciation of his surname, together with his Alloa residence in Alloa 1744, suggests he may be related to the Pratice families living there in that time frame.
