Original Article: With the help of Alan Jones and census information we have prepared the following family tree:

1. Caleb Prentiss, b. c. 1851, MA, appears in the 1880 Lynn, Essex Co., MA census. He apparently d. bef. 1900 since he is not shown in that census. He m., Ella Florence Putnam. Ella was with living with her son, Frank, in the 1900 census. Children:

  • Henry Carlton Prentiss, b. Mar 1874, MA. Living with brother, Frank, in 1900 ensus. He m. Florence M., born Jun 1873, NH. Daughter:
    • Laura D. Prentiss, b. Jun 1899, MA.

  • Frank Chandler Prentiss, b. c. 1877, MA. He appears in the 1920 Danvers, Essex Co., MA census with his wife, Lucy L., b. c. 1878, MA and children:
    • Hervey Putnam Prentiss, b. c. 1903, MA and d. 1968. The census erroneously calls him "Herbert." He is Alan Jones' grandfather and was a college professor and dean at Kutztown University. He had written some memoirs which describe his ancestry for a couple of generations.
    • Arthur P. Prentiss, b. c. 1905, MA. . . . . . [2]
    • Esther F. Prentiss, b. c. 1910, Ma.

2. Arthur P. Prentice was b. c. 1905 in MA. He d. before 1999.

He m. Doris Evelyn Gibson, b. 1907, Lynn, MA and dau. of John Gibson and Hannah Carr. She d. 17 Nov 1999 at her home in Wardwell Gardens. Her obit. appears in the 22 Nov 1999 Portland Press Harold. She attended Lynn schools and graduated from Lynn English High School. She lived in Danvers, Mass., from 1929 to 1961, in Topsfield, Mass., for 10 years, Sarasota, Fla., from 1977 to 1997, and then moved to Saco, ME. She was a golfer and bridge player. She was a member of the Gulf Gate Golf Club and St. Andrews Church, both in Sarasota, and was a volunteer at the Hunt Memorial Hospital in Danvers. A memorial service was held at Dennett, Craig and Pate Funeral Home, 365 Main Street. Surviving children are:

  • Jean Edmands Prentice of Amherst, NH.
  • Arthur P. Prentiss Jr. of Saco, ME
