2. James Prentice, probably b. c. 1760-71, probably not at Libberton (see Fn. 2), who m. Mary Elder on 7 Jan 1790 at Libberton.

3. Alexander Prentice, probably b. c. 1785-92, location unknown (See Fn. 3), who m. Agnes Hunter on 20 Mar 1812 at Libberton.

   Fn. 1. Aexander is likely either the Alexander Prentice who was b. 22 Jul 1758 at Carluke, son of James Prentice and Janet Morton, or the Alexander Prentice who was b. 22 May 1768, son of Alexander Prentice and Margaret Grosset.

   Fn. 2. There are 4 possible parents for James Prentice:

   1. James Prentice, b. 8 Feb 1760, s/o Thomas Prentice and Janet Orr of Carstairs. However, this James may have died before 1765 because they named another son born in 1764, James. See #3, below.
   2. James Prentice, b. 10 Mar 1763, s/o James Prentice and Marrion Waddle of Cambusnethan.
   3. James Prentice, b. 17 Jul 1764, s/o Thomas Prentice and Janet Orr of Carstairs.
