How many of these folks are related? In researching the various families in Hancock Co., IL we discovered we had a number of possibly related families discussed in different articles, and in different issues, of our Prentice Newsletter.
We have prepared the following links and list for quick reference:
Nathan Prentice of Nauvoo, IL, b. c, 1787 in CT, Spring 1999. Nathan's son, Luke P. Prentice, b. c. 1817 in NY, appears with a wife, Lydia A., and children in the 1860 Sonora, Hancock Co., IL census.
The National Society of the Daughters of the American Revolution Volume 59, page 247, shows a Mary E. Prentice, born in Hancock Co., IL who m. James T. Gill. Mary is called the daughter of Luke P. Prentice and Christana Hall, his wife. The two Lukes may be different people, or the same person with different wives.
In addition, The National Society of the Daughters of the American Revolution Volume 61, page 295, shows Mary Walter, born in Dallas City, IL who m. Edward Hubner. She is the daugher of Lucia Irene Prentice who m. W. H. Walter and granddaugher of Luke P. Prentice and Christiana Hall
It also, at 61/307, identifies Lucia Irene Prentice's daughter, Jessie Walter, b. in Dallas City, IL who m. William Thomas McKee.
Frederick R. Prentiss , b. 1815 in NY, Spring 1999.
In addition, we have the following families which may be related:
- Daniel Prentiss, b. c. 1797, son of Daniel Prentiss and Mary Spencer. His roots have been identified; he is # edb1533 in our database and a descendant of Valentine Prentice.
- Frederick Prentice, b. c. 1813, NY and his wife, Lucy, b. c. 1824, KY. Children:
- Pitt Prentice, b. c. 1845, IL.
- Dewitt Prentice, b. c. 1847, IL.
- Ray Prentice, b. c. 1849, IL.
- John Prentis, b. c. 1853 in IA and his wife, Eliza, b. c. 1857, OH. Children:
- Christine Prentice, b. c. 1877, IL.
- Robert Prentice, b. c. 1879, IL.
- W. L. Prentice, b. c. 1839, IL, age 21 and unmarried in the 1860 census.
