Adam Prentice of Carnwath, Scotland

By his E-mail of 30 Jan 2000, he very kindly provided us with information about his family and descendants.
1. Adam Prenticewas b. c. 1754, d. 15 Mar 1811, age 57 and is bur. in the Carnwath Churchyard. He married Margaret Brocket on 17 Jan 1779 at Carstairs. Margaret was born in Carnwath on 29 Aug 1753, d. 22 Aug 1807 and is also bur. in the Carnwath Churchyard. Children:
- Margaret Prentice, born Jan 31, 1780, Carnwath and d. 20 Feb 1844 at Greenwall, Parish of Carnwath. By email of 3 Feb 2001, Ian Feavearyear, a descendant, advises that she m. James Mann and that they had 1 or more children, including Agnes Mann, Ian's paternal grandmother.

- Janet Prentice, born July 3,1783, d. 19 Feb 1803, probably unmarried, and is bur. in the Carnwath Churchyard.
- John Prentice, born April 23, 1785
- Jean Prentice, born May 18,1787
- Adam Prentice, born Jume 16, 1791
- David Prentice, born March 10, 1793. He is probably the David Prentice, a farmer, Cleuch, who m. Marion Hamilton who was b. c. 1796 and d. 18 Dec 1827 at age 31, and who is bur. in the Carstairs Churchyard. Children of David Prentice and Marion Hamilton (per IGI)
- Cecilia Prentice, b. 15 Jul 1818 Carnwath
- Adam PRENTICE - Birth: 21 Oct 1820 Carnwath. He is probably the Adam Prentice who m. Agnes Dick on 23 Nov 1852 at Carnwath.
- Margaret Prentice, chr. 17 Jun 1822 Carnwath
- Janet Prentice, b. 8 Apr 1825 Carnwath
- William Hamilton Prentice, b. 25 Sep 1827 Carnwath

2. James Prentice, b. 22 Jun 1795 at Carnwath and d. 26 Oct 1867 at Greenwall, Parish of Carnwath. About 1823 he m. Isabella Stewart and m. 2nd Janet Nimmo on 27 Sep 1844. James had seven children with Isabella Stewart and three with Janet Nimmo, including: (per Jean Gourley, email, 29 Mar 2001)
