    Update of 29 Sep 2008: Subject to further investigation for confirmation, we have identified as probably a descendant of Clark Prentiss of Burlington, VT :

    The 1900 and 1920 Burlington, Chittenden Co., VT census identifies the following family:

    1. Fredrick C. Prentiss, age 48, b. Jan 1852.

    He m. Ida M. Spaulding, age 41, b. May 1859. Children:

    1. Orlow F. Prentiss, age 15, b. Jul 1878. Orlow's family is shown in the 1920 Burlington, Chittenden Co., VT census as follows:
      1. Orlow Prentiss, 35, VT
      2. Margery Prentiss, 34, ME
      3. Robert Prentiss, 6, MA
      4. Richard Prentiss, 3, VT
    2. Carrie Spaulding, sister-in-law, age 21, b. Jul 1878

    He might be a son of Clark Prentiss of Burlington, VT. He might also be a son of Edward Prentiss, b. c. 1820 who appeared as unmarried in the 1850 Burlington census.

    He might be a brother of Charles Prentiss of Burlington, VT.
