We have compiled the following tentative family tree using information from the LDS Ancestral File, letters from Janet Stone, including her emails of 19 Aug 2003 and 28 Aug 2007, and Martin Daykin's letter of 31 Jul 2007 Gloucestershire, England. We have received information which is somewhat conflicting as to the earliest generations and we have attempted to reconcile that information as set out below.
We have also combined that information with information found in Visitation of England & Wales Notes, Vol. 3 . 1. Thomas Prentice was b. 1643 in Armagh, Ireland and d 1750, age 107.
He m. Unknown. They had 1 or more children, including:

3. James Prentice was b. c. 1711 and d. 20 Nov 1777, age 66 years.James, with his wife and children, are interred near the west door in Armagh Cathedral Churchyard.

He m. 2nd Elizabeth Oats. She was b. 1722 and d. 29 Apr 1786 at the age of about 64 (per Janet Stone, emails, 8 Aug 2007 and 28 Aug 2007).
Bur. in Armagh Cathedral Churchyard.She was the dau. and coheir of Thomas Oates (who d. age 92 [his grandfather having died age 105]) and niece of Colonel Adam Murrey (distinguished at the Siege of Derry).
By email of 3 May 2008, Sharon Oddie Brown adds the following additional information about Elizabeth Oats' roots:
Firstly, lets start with the Thomas Oats who is likely the father of your Elizabeth Oats who married James Prentice (1711-1777). I note that a Thomas Oats married an Anne Murray. They also had a daughter Jane in 1727 (1st Armagh Presbyterian records). I suspect that she married Joseph Oliver (1726-1796) based on records in the Pillow Manuscripts at PRONI and also the National Archives table of Armagh marriages. I also suspect that the father of both Jane & Elizabeth was the same Thomas Oats of Ballinahonebeg, Co. Armagh who died in 1764 (Armagh Probates). There was also a James Oats of Ballinahonebeg who died 1749 (Armagh Probates). I suspect he would also be a relation (There are other Oats names in the 1st Presbyterian records that I have yet to type up and post on my site).
Henry Leslie Prentice (#1v, below) shows up in TGF PATERSONs Grand Jury records as also being from Ennislare, Co. Armagh as does his son, Henry Elliot Prentice. Ennislare is just slightly south-east of Ballynahonebeg and both townlands were often leased by OLIVERs and other relations.
These connections are interesting because various names in the Prentice family tree are also names that show up in deeds concerning the Oliver family and the various families connected with them. Lowery, Brooke, Dobbin and so on.

James was also a Lt. in the 25th Regiment of Foot (per Janet Stone, email 8 Aug 2007). He held a commision in the Army; served against the French and was imprisoned in Tours. t

3. George Prentice, b. c. 1789, Armagh, Ireland and d. 18 Jun 1830 in Bridgetown, Barbados (per Martin Daykin). George was bur. 19 Jun 1830 , St. Michael's Cathedral, Bridgetown, Barbados. He has also been called "of Vellore, Greystones, Co. Wicklow, Ireland". He was a West Indian Merchant like his father and called "of Tandragee and later Barbados."

He m. Eliza Jane Kidd on 20 May 1814. Jonesborough. Eliza was b. 7 May 1787, Madden, Co. Armagh, and d. 15 Mar 1815, Armagh, bur at St; Mark's, Armagh. It is presently unclear whether she was living in Barbados at the time of her husband's 1830 death there. She was the eldest dau. of Rev. Archibald Kidd, M.A., Rector of Jonesborough, Co. Armagh (b. 2 Apr 1854 and d. 4 Jul 1833 and bur in Jonesrorough Churchard) and his wife, Bridget Arbuthnot, dau. of Nicholas Arbuthnot, Rector of Newtown Hamilton, Co. Armagh, and Ballinderry Co., Derry, Prebendary of Ardagh. diocese of Killala (d. 9 Oct 1788, age 77, and bur. and Ballinderry.) Children:
She m. Joseph Edward Addison on 27 Dec 1898. He was b. 8 Jul 1821, Stockton=by-Bridgenorth, ShropshireS, B, S, England, d. 17 Nov 1890 in Clarens, Switzerland, and bur. there. General, and 70th Regiment Commandant at The Royal Military College, Sandhurst. Daughter:

She m. Thomas Graham Balfour on 3 Jul 1856 in St. Gabriel's Church, Pimlico, London. He was b. 18 Mar 1813, Edinburgh, Scotland, and d. 17 Jan 1891 in Wimbledon, England. Bur in Brookwood Cemetery, Woking, England. He was President of Royal Society of Surgeons, Honarary Physician to the Queen, Surgeon General in the Army. Georgina m. 2nd Edward Anderson on 1 Oct 1846 in St Marks, Armagh, Armagh, Ireland. Edward was born in 1810. He died on 16 Mar 1852 in Dublin, Ireland and was buried on 22 Mar 1852 in St Thomas' Church, Dublin. His residence was Moygannow House, Co Down, Ireland
4. Thomas Augustus Prentice, b. 8 Mar 1815 and chr. in Newry, Co. Down by Rev. Charles Campbell, Rector of that parish (and called "of Vellore, Greystones, Co. Wicklow, Ireland") and d. 19 Nov 1901. He was sub-sheriff for Co. Armagh in the years 1836-1837 and for 43 years Chief Distributor of Stamps for that county, last Seneschal of the manors of Belteagh and Toachy, Co. Armagh (per Martin Daykin, citing "Visitation," above). The term, Seneschal, is defined in Wikipedia as follows:
The British scholar H.S. Bennett described the seneschal's role by saying that "the seneschal must know the size and needs of every manor; how many acres should be ploughed and how much seed will be needed. He must know all his bailiffs and reeves, how they conduct the lord's business and how they treat the peasants. He must know exactly how many penny loaves can be made from a quarter of corn, or how many cattle each pasture should support. He must for ever be on the alert lest any of the lord's franchises lapse or are usurped by others. He must think of the lord's needs, both of money and of kind, and see that they are constantly supplied. In short, he must be all-knowing and he is all-powerful".
Thomas m. Mary Johnson on 8 Dec 1847 at All Saints, Holbeach, England. She was b. 8 Apr 1819, Holbeach, christened there the following day, and d. 14 Mar 1897 in Armagh. She was the dau. of John Johnson, Attorney at Law, and Sarah Sturton and granddaughter of Peter Johnson and (unknown) and Jacob Sturton and Miss Stukely. Jacob Sturton was the son of Thomas Sturton. Miss Stukely was the dau. of Adlard and Sarah Stukely (per Janet Stone). Children (per Martin Daykin, citing Visitation):
5. John George Prentice, b. 16 Oct 1851 in Seven Houses, Armagh (per Martin Daykin and Janet Stone, email, 19 Aug 2007).and d. 8 Jul 1911 in Oxton, Birkenhead, Cheshire, England. He appears in the 1881 and 1891 census in Oxton, Birkenhead, Cheshire living at 11 Alton Road, perhaps 4 miles SW of Liverpool. In 1891 he was a Merchants Clerk. In 1901 he was a Marine Insurance Underwriter.
He m. Agnes Sophia Rhode on 24 May 1879 in St. Mary, Upton (Overchurch), Co. Chester. She was b. 18 Sep 1851 and chr. St. Peter's Church (Protestant Catedal), Liverpool, dau. of Christian Rhode of Birkenhead, Co. Chester, formerly of Hamburg, Germany. Children (per Martin Daykin, citing Visitation):
The main inscription on the memorial reads:
"The Helles Memorial is both the memorial to the Gallipoli Campaign and to the 20,763 men who fell in that campaign and whose graves are unknown or who were lost or buried at sea in Gallipoli waters. Inscribed on it are the names of all the ships that took part in the campaign and the titles of the army formations and units which served on the Peninsula together with the names of 18,985 sailors, soldiers and marines from the United Kingdom, 248 soldiers from Australia, and 1,530 soldiers of the Indian Army."
The Memorial stands on the tip of the Peninsula and is in the form of an obelisk over 30 metres high that can be seen by ships passing through the Dardanelles.
6. Elizabeth Catherine Prentice, b. 4 Mar 1853, Armagh, and chr. 23 Mar 1854, St. Marks Church, probably Vellore, Greystones, Co. Wicklow, Ireland. Died. 25 May 1944 at Vellore, Greystones, Co. Wicklow, Ireland.
She m. Charles Faris on 1 Oct 1874 at Armagh Cathedral, Armagh. Charles was b. 25 Feb 1847 and is called "of Dublin, Co. Dublin, Ireland". He d. 7 Apr 1924 at Cathedral Close, Armagh, Co. Armagh, Ireland and is bur. St Mark's, Armagh, Co. Armagh, Ireland. He was the son of John Faris and Clamina Beggs of Dublin, grandson of Thomas Faris and Elizabeth Eleanor Beggs, and great grandson of George Faris and Mary Percy (per LDS Pedigree File). Children:
