By Linus Joseph Dewald Jr., Editor
    Winter 2009 and Revised 14 Mar 2010

    1. Mildred Eva Prentice was b. c. 1904 in Northfield, Washington Co., VT, and was still living there in 1922 per Vermont Marriage Records .

She m. Harry Elmer Dewar on 7 Oct 1922 in Northfield, Washington Co., VT. He was a Truckman, b. c. 1904, St. George, NB. He was the son of William M. Dewar (b. St. George, NB) and Alice McVicar (also b. St. George, NB). She may be the Mildred E, Dewar who appears in the 1930 census in Hardwick, Caledonia Co., VT, as divorced with a daughter:

    1. Virginia M. Dewar, b. c. 1925 Vermont. 1930 at home in Hardwick.

Who are Mildred Eva Prentice's Parents?

Mildred's VT Marriage Record shows her parents as Justin Prentice, b. in Northfield, and Lottie Friend(?), also b. in Northfield.

There is a chance that Justin Prentice is Justin Belmont Prentice, b. c. 1875 or 1880, Granville, VT. He is a son of #37, Golden Nehemiah Prentice, who appears in our article Fall 1999 article entitled Prentices of the Colnes, England. However, we show that he married May Lemery(?) on 1 Jan 1912 while living in Braintree, VT, per Vermont Marriage Records .

That 1912 marriage was about 8 years after Mildred's birth c. 1904, so it might be that Lottie Friend(?) is a 1st wife, although that marriage does not appear in Vermont Marriage Records.

    Investigation is continuing.
